In Memoriam: The Szenczys

In Memoriam: Mr. Sándor and Mrs. Katalin Szenczy, Founders of our Budapest, Hungary, Veritas Collegiate Academy Campus.

mr mrs SzenczyDear Veritas Community and Friends,

It is with heavy hearts that we honor the memory of a truly remarkable couple, Mr. Sándor and Mrs. Katalin Szenczy. Their recent passings have left an irreplaceable void not only in our lives but also in the Hungarian Baptist Aid organization and the global community they served so diligently.

Our journey with the Szenczys began in 2017 when they, along with Mr. Belá Szilágyi and other administrators from Hungarian Baptist Aid, crossed paths with us at Veritas Collegiate Academy in Northern Virginia. The Szenczys enrolled their twin boys in our school's inaugural year in NOVA, marking the start of a beautiful partnership focused on the education and future of their children, as well as the children of Hungary and Europe.

In November 2017, Mr. Szenczy approached my wife and me with a vision to bring Veritas classical education back to Europe. This shared dream led us on a multi-year journey culminating in the opening of a Veritas Collegiate Academy campus in Budapest, Hungary, in partnership and under the vision and organization of our Veritas Collegiate Academy in Northern Virginia, under the leadership of the Szenczys and their dedicated team. Their passion for education and spreading the gospel was truly inspiring, and their legacy continues to flourish within our Budapest campus.

As the founders of Hungarian Baptist Aid, a beacon of hope and compassion for those in need worldwide, the Szenczys dedicated their lives to humanitarian relief, spreading the gospel, and providing educational opportunities in Hungary and beyond. Their impact will be felt for generations to come, touching countless lives with their unwavering commitment to service and faith.

Today, we celebrate the incredible lives of Mr. and Mrs. Szenczy, honoring their dedication, love, and vision that have shaped our community and transformed the lives of many. While they may no longer be with us, their spirit lives on in the work they started and the hearts they touched. We are blessed to continue our work in Hungary under Mr. Belá Szilágyi, the President of Hungarian Baptista Aid, and Borbála Dula, the Head of School.

We extend our deepest condolences to their family, friends, and colleagues at Hungarian Baptist Aid. Let us carry forward their legacy with the same passion, purpose, and unwavering faith that defined their lives. May we continue to honor their memory by spreading love, education, and hope to all those in need, just as they did.

In remembrance and gratitude,

Mr. Sean Elgut
