Dress Code

Veritas Collegiate Academy is a workplace for teachers and students. Students should dress in a manner that demonstrates their respect for the school. The headmaster or Dean of Students will determine adherence of dress code policy. If there are any questions regarding the uniform policy, please feel free to contact the Dean of Students.

The school has chosen Flynn O’Hara as the provider of our uniforms. Flynn O’Hara is a proud family-owned and operated school uniform business. Veritas divides the dress code into “Non-formal Days” and “Formal Days”.

The Lower School (K - 6) will have “Non-formal days” on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and “Formal Days” on Tuesday and Thursdays.
The Upper School (7-12) will have a “Non-formal Day” on Fridays only. Monday through Thursdays will be “Formal Days” for the Upper School.

The default dress code for all field trips is the formal uniform. The clothing for Non-Formal Days can be bought at any store. The clothing for “Formal” Days must be bought at Flynn O’Hara and have the logo put on, if applicable.

For male students: Their hair must be of one natural color, above the eyebrows,
not more than an inch and a half below the shirt collar and be kept neat and clean. Please note, as per our campus-wide policy, male students may not wear earrings on campus, have nail polish, tattoos, body piercing or body enhancements or modifications, unless medical. Proper underclothing must be
worn (i.e., t-shirts under all polo or dress shirts; shirts tucked in, and dress socks that are at least calf-high).

For female students: Their hair must be of a natural color (no unnatural red, green, blue, pink, etc.). Proper underclothing must be worn, and blouses tucked in at all times. Socks will be knee-high when a skirt is worn. Skirts cannot be more than 2 inches above the knee.

UPPER SCHOOL

FORMAL DAYS (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, & Field Trips) These clothes MUST be bought at Flynn O’Hara.

Female Students:

• Black Watch Plaid Kilt skirt from Flynn O’Hara
• Black Watch Plaid tie from Flynn O’Hara
• Navy Blazer with two buttons and logo from Flynn O’Hara
• Oxford shirt must be white (long or short sleeve) with school logo from Flynn O’Hara
• Socks must be navy, cable-knit, and knee-high, or tights navy, flat, or cable knit *
  • Optional: Socks or tights may be hunter green (bought anywhere)
  • OPTIONAL: Navy V-neck sweater sleeveless with white trim and logo from Flynn O’Hara (This must be worn under the blazer)

• Shoes must be brown, black, or navy. No heel greater than ½ inch. (bought anywhere)
• Any hair accessory (plaid hair tie, scrunchie, or padded headband)
  
  * Sweatshirts, Cardigans, Long Sleeve Sweaters, Sneakers, sandals, white socks, and boots are prohibited on formal uniform days*

Male Students:

• Khaki twill pants from Flynn O’Hara
• Oxford shirt must be white (long or short sleeve) with school logo from Flynn O’Hara
• Striped tie from Flynn O’Hara
• Undershirts must be white and worn at all times (bought anywhere)
• Navy Blazer with two buttons and logo from Flynn O’Hara
  
  • Optional: You may wear a navy sweater vest with a logo under your blazer.
• Brown or black belt only (bought anywhere)
• Shoes must be navy, brown, black, or tan Oxfords, loafers, leather deck shoes (bought anywhere)
  
  * Sweatshirts, Cardigans, Long Sleeve Sweaters, Sneakers and white socks are prohibited on formal uniform days*

NON-FORMAL (ONLY Friday) These clothes can be bought anywhere.

Female Students:

• Khaki or navy slacks, skirts, or shorts. Skirts and shorts can not be more than 2 inches above the knee. Shorts may only be worn in the months of September, October, April, May, and June (bought anywhere)
• Polo shirts must be white, navy, pale pink, pale blue, or pale yellow (long or short-sleeved) (bought anywhere)
• Oxford shirt must be white, pale pink, pale blue, or pale yellow (long-sleeved only) (bought anywhere)
• White or Navy turtleneck may be worn under a polo or Oxford shirt
• V-Neck Navy Sweater Vest with white trim must be bought at Flynn O’Hara
• Sweater or polo fleece with logo must be navy (Flynn O’Hara)
• Brown or Black belt only (bought anywhere)
• Sneakers may be worn that are in good condition. (bought anywhere)
• Sandals and boots are prohibited, as are heels higher than ½ inch

Male Students:

• Pants or shorts must be khaki or navy. Shorts may only be worn in the months of September, October, April, May, and June (cargo shorts are prohibited)

• Polo shirt must be white, navy, pale pink, pale blue, or pale yellow (long or short-sleeved) (bought anywhere)
• Oxford shirt white, pale pink, pale blue, or pale yellow (bought anywhere)
• White undershirts must be worn under all shirts (bought anywhere)
• Sweater & Navy polar fleece with logo must be navy (Flynn O’Hara)
• V-Neck Navy Sweater Vest with white trim must be bought at Flynn O’Hara (optional)
• Brown or Black Belt only (bought anywhere)
• Sneakers may be worn that are in good condition. (bought anywhere)

*Absolutely no logos or emblems of any kind, except for Veritas Collegiate Academy logos
