Cynthia Yu is the daughter of Xin Wang and Ninglou Yu. This year’s Valedictorian, Cynthia has attended Veritas since the 10th grade. During her time at Veritas, she received numerous honor
awards for academic achievement. Cynthia held the post of vice president of Student Government. She values community service, and to that extent, has volunteered her time at nursing homes in Beijing, China, interacting with and assisting the elderly. In 10th grade, she led a team of student researchers to study the commercialization of Suzhou’s intangible cultural heritage. In 11th grade, under the guidance of the Faculties of Arts and Sciences Department at Harvard University in Boston, Cynthia explored the development of human cognition, publishing a paper, which was included in the International Symposium of Humanities and Social Science Management Conference, 2021. In the fall, Cynthia will be moving to New York City where she will attend NYU: New York University.
Alice Han, the child of Haiyan Zhao and Jibing Han, is the recipient of this year’s Salutatorian
Award, and will represent her class as such. Alice has been a student at Veritas for the past 4
years. While at Veritas, she held the position of Vice President of Student Government. Additionally, Alice was active in the dance, basketball, and swim clubs, as well as the Veritas drama club. Recently, she successfully completed a Harvard University Psychology Research Project under a Harvard Professor. Her paper was successfully included in the International Symposium of Humanities and Social Science Management Conference and will be published! Alice has hosted numerous school activities, and has volunteered at an organization to visit the underprivileged families in Jinan, China. Additionally, she organized a study tour there for children and their families. Alice has been accepted to a number of universities, including UC Davis and The Ohio State, and in the fall will move to Charlottesville, where she will attend UVA: University of Virginia
